The Parish hosted a workshop last Saturday, 11 March, at St. Mark’s Church, North Albury. Rev’d. Dr. Alan Cadwallader, noted biblical scholar from Canberra, led a stimulating and informative group of 35 participants, drawn from a number of parishes across the Diocese of Wangaratta, on a journey through appropriate biblical interpretation, illustrated by the Parable of the Good Samaritan, and the so-called ‘clobber texts’. Those are the ones used to try and shut down discussion about homosexuality and rule out any re-consideration. Alan based his presentation on the study booklet accompanying ‘Five Uneasy Pieces’ to which he contributed. Things are not as black and white as some people think. Many of us are working towards a more inclusive church while recognising there are a range of views conscientiously held on the issues in the same sex debates. It was a great day and everyone was encouraged and inspired.
