A group whose aim is to provide a social outlet and support network for its members. This encompasses learning, in that we visit local towns, galleries, gardens and small sustainable businesses or invite guest speakers and demonstrators to member's homes. Relaxation and having fun is at the core of our activities.
We eat out in the warmer months. Winter indoor activities usually involve a ‘bring and share’ lunch. There is a focus on food that is not just about ourselves. We assist people in need by supplying the Parish Food Bank with items and cash, collecting from members at the monthly (Second Wednesday) outings. Our raffles, annual membership fee of $10 and outside donations, enable us to also make bi-yearly gifts to the Food Bank.
There are 28 members - including a committee of 4 and 3 other members volunteering in key roles. Members with access to email are kept abreast of all news on a regular basis. This enables communication of illness or accident etc so members are aware of others' needs, in addition to up-coming events. A diary is nutted out at the Jindera Hotel every January where members make suggestions of activities and places to visit.
Although Jindera-based with an AGM and church service at St Paul's each February, we are a bunch of people from anywhere in the area. Members are welcome to bring along mothers, daughters, friends, any time, without commitment. Many people then find themselves regulars! The group is somewhat noisy, enthusiastic and non-regimented- befitting a circle of friends. Our aim is to share the abundance we experience between ourselves and others less fortunate.
