The first church to be built in Jindera was a slab building with a thatched roof. This was erected in 1868-70 and was called St. Thomas. The services held on the third Sunday each month and during the years of 1871 to 1890 were conducted by Canon A.D. Acocks. This building was later demolished and the present one erected, having been dedicated on 13th March 1891. Canon Kingsmill was the rector. A bottle of wine is said to have been placed in one corner of the foundations by Mr T. Cross.
On 6th October 1968, a Centenary Service was conducted, which commemorated the first service held in Jindera a hundred years prior. Following two years’ closure and eight months of hard work mostly by voluntary labour, St Paul’s was reopened and rededicated by The Right Reverend Robert Beal on Sunday 25th October 1992.
On Sunday 21st June 2009, Father Colin Wellard officiated at a special service to bless the recently erected Bell and Tower. The bell was kindly donated by St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Dover Heights in Sydney. They were no longer able to use the bell, due to noise complaints from the community. A variety of fundraising events were organised by parishioners to raise money to go towards this project.
