St. John’s is the oldest church building in the parish. In 2010 the 150th anniversary of Anglican worship at Thurgoona was celebrated, although the present church was not built until the late 19th Century. The first school in the district was also started at the original Anglican church. The church grounds are large and well shaded by trees, and the creek runs close to the rear boundary. It is a popular setting for weddings. A small demountable cabin provides a meeting room and toilet facilities.
